We are excited to officially announce the launch of the Summit Valley United Academy, beginning Fall 2026.

We are looking to field teams across both West Virginia and Virginia, with a focus on developing strong programs in both areas. With existing leadership, coaches, and players joining us from West Virginia, we are able to move quickly and establish a strong foundation right away, while starting to build in Virginia.

This marks a major milestone for the club and a significant step forward for soccer in our region.

Honoring the Foundation

Before looking ahead, it’s important to recognize where we’ve come from.

Summit Valley United is incredibly grateful to West Virginia FC Panhandle for everything they have built. WVFC Panhandle has established itself as a premier youth soccer club in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, with a strong focus on player development, sportsmanship, and community. They have created a well-rounded program that blends competitive play with personal growth and meaningful community engagement.

The foundation they have built for players, families, and coaches in West Virginia has made this next step possible. We are proud to carry that forward and continue building on it.

From Vision to Reality

From day one, our goal has never been just to field teams.

We set out to build something long-term, something with purpose. A club that offers more than games. A club that provides structure, development, and real opportunity.

With the launch of the Academy, that vision is now becoming a reality.

We are creating a complete pathway, from early youth development playing in leagues such as the Elite Development Program (EDP) and the National Capital Soccer League (NCSL) all the way through to adult competitive soccer in leagues such as United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) and Washington Premier League (WPL) to name a few. Players will now have the opportunity to grow within one system, one culture, and one long-term vision.

Our Mission and Vision

At the core of Summit Valley United is a clear and consistent focus, one that guides everything we do as a club.

We are not just building teams, we are building a culture. A culture that is rooted in development, accountability, and a shared commitment to improving both individually and collectively. Every training session, every game, and every interaction is designed with purpose, ensuring that players are progressing in a structured and meaningful way.

Our approach is built around a few key principles:

  • Deliver competitive soccer through structured, intentional training

  • Develop disciplined, technically strong players who understand the game

  • Promote teamwork, respect, and accountability at every level

  • Create an environment where players are challenged, supported, and expected to grow

  • Build a unified club culture that connects youth, academy, and adult teams

This is about more than just performance on the field. It’s about developing players who can think, adapt, and contribute in a team environment, while also taking pride in representing the club the right way.

Our vision is simple, but ambitious.

Build a complete club system with competitive men’s, women’s, and youth academy teams focused on high-quality training, player development, and long-term success.

The Player Pathway

Traditionally, most associations and clubs operate in separate stages. Players join a youth team, move through age groups, and then, more often than not, have to leave their local area or find a completely different club if they want to continue at a higher level.

There is rarely a connected pathway from youth soccer into adult competitive leagues. Players develop, but the next step is unclear, inconsistent, or simply not available locally.

That’s exactly what we are changing.

At Summit Valley United, we are building a complete pathway, where players can start young and progress all the way through to adult competitive soccer within the same club, the same structure, and the same culture.

Our model is built around three core stages:

First Touch

  • Early development focus

  • High touches and technical foundation

  • Small group training with dedicated coaching

  • Emphasis on creativity, coordination, and ball mastery

Rising XI

  • Focus on player growth and confidence

  • Development over results

  • Preparing physically and mentally for 11v11

  • Equal opportunities and intentional position rotation

Apex XI

  • Advanced development

  • Tactical understanding and game intelligence

  • Position specialization

  • Higher standards for commitment, effort, and accountability

As players move through Apex XI, and especially in the later stages such as high school age, they will have the opportunity to cross-train and cross-play with our adult teams, gaining exposure to a higher level of competition and even participating in semi-professional leagues.

Of course, all of this is earned. Opportunities at that level will be based on each player’s ability, commitment, and performance.

From there, players have a direct pathway into our adult teams, competing in leagues such as UPSL and WPL.

This is not just about moving players through age groups. This is about building a system where players can train, develop, compete, and stay local, while still having access to higher levels of the game.

This is what a true pathway looks like.

Training Philosophy

Our approach to training is built around one core idea: development comes first.

We are not focused on short-term results or quick wins. Instead, we are committed to creating an environment where players can consistently improve, build confidence, and understand the game at a deeper level. Every session will be designed with purpose, ensuring players are not just going through the motions, but actively learning, adapting, and growing.

We want players who are comfortable on the ball, confident in their decisions, and capable of performing under pressure. That comes from repetition, intensity, and a willingness to be challenged. Training should push players, not just physically, but mentally as well.

At every level of the club, we aim to develop players who can think for themselves, take responsibility, and contribute to the team in meaningful ways. This means creating sessions that are engaging, competitive, and reflective of real game situations.

Our philosophy is simple:

  • Development-driven training at every level

  • High-intensity, high-repetition sessions

  • Focus on creativity, confidence, and decision-making

  • Strong emphasis on 1v1 situations and competitiveness

  • Encouraging positional understanding and versatility

This is how we build players who are ready for the next level.

Opportunities Beyond Playing

This growth is not just about the players on the field. It’s about building a complete club environment where everyone has a role to play in developing the next generation.

As we expand, there will be opportunities for players, coaches, and families to become more involved in the club. Whether that’s supporting youth teams, helping run training sessions, or being part of camps and development programs, there are many ways to contribute.

For our older players especially, this creates a natural transition into leadership. It allows them to stay connected to the game, share their experience, and play a role in shaping younger players coming through the pathway.

For families, it provides a chance to be part of something bigger than just a single team or season. This is about building a community, where players are supported not just on the field, but through a network of people all working toward the same goal.

Everyone has a part to play in what we are building here.

LOOKING AHEAD

This is more than expansion, it is the next step in building something that is designed to last. We are creating a club that stays local, supports the community, develops players the right way, and provides clear, meaningful opportunities within a structure that will continue to grow year after year. There is still a lot ahead of us, but this move puts us in a strong position to move forward with purpose and direction.

We are fully committed to building this the right way, for our players, for our families, and for our community. This is not a short-term project, it is something we are building for the future. And this is just the beginning.

Exciting times ahead.
