Adult Player Options

Two ways to train, develop, and be part of Summit Valley United.

Summit Valley United offers two participation options for players in our Adult Program. Whether your goal is to compete for a place on one of our league rosters or simply train consistently in a competitive environment, there is a pathway designed for you.

Our Full Season Player option is for players who want to compete for league and match opportunities, while our Development Player option provides a lower-cost way to train with the program without committing to league competition.

Full Season Player — $300

For players participating in the full Adult competitive program.

Full Season Players are part of the competitive player pool and train with the main team throughout the season. These players are eligible to be selected for league matches, external scrimmages, and other competitive opportunities.

The $300 seasonal fee helps cover the shared costs of operating the Adult Program, including training facilities, match fields, referees, league expenses, and other team operating costs.

What's Included

  • Weekly main team practices
  • Eligibility for league matches
  • Eligibility for organized external scrimmages
  • Internal team scrimmages
  • League, field, referee, and team operating costs
  • Access to the full competitive team environment

Player Registration

Individual league or association player registration fees are not included in the $300 season fee and must be paid separately by the player when required.

Match Selection & Playing Time

Being a Full Season Player makes you eligible for selection, but it does not guarantee a place on a match-day roster, a starting position, or playing time.

Match selection is based on factors including attendance, performance, fitness, position needs, attitude, communication, commitment, and the needs of the team for each individual match.

Players are expected to compete for opportunities throughout the season. Training consistently and being available does not automatically guarantee minutes, but it gives players the opportunity to earn them.

Development Player — $150

For players who want to train with the Adult Program without participating in league matches.

The Development Player option is designed for players who want access to structured, competitive training but are not currently looking to participate in league matches.

This can be a good option for players returning to the game, improving fitness, developing technically, adjusting to the level of adult competition, or simply looking for a consistent and competitive soccer environment.

Development Players normally train separately from the main competitive team so that sessions can be structured around development rather than preparation for an upcoming league opponent.

What's Included

  • Weekly Development Player practices
  • Training drills, technical work, and small-sided games
  • Development-focused sessions separate from the main team
  • Groups may be combined when appropriate or needed for training
  • Opportunities to scrimmage against the main team when requested by the coaching staff

What's Not Included

Development Players are not eligible for league matches or organized external scrimmages while registered under the Development Player option.

The program is focused specifically on training and internal development opportunities.

Moving From Development to the Full Team

Development does not have to be a permanent designation.

A Development Player who progresses, becomes ready for competitive matches, or decides they want to pursue league opportunities can upgrade to Full Season Player at any point during the season by paying the difference between the two fees.

For example, a player who has already paid the $150 Development Player fee would pay an additional $150 to move to Full Season Player status.

Moving to Full Season Player status makes the player eligible for competitive selection but does not guarantee match selection or playing time.

The coaching staff may also speak with Development Players who are progressing well and encourage them to move into the competitive player pool.

Which Option Is Right for You?

Choose Full Season Player ($300) if you want to train with the competitive team and compete for opportunities to represent Summit Valley United in league matches and external competition.

Choose Development Player ($150) if your primary goal is to train, improve, stay fit, and be part of a competitive adult soccer environment without committing to league matches.

Both groups are part of the Summit Valley United Adult Program. The difference is primarily the level of competitive commitment and match eligibility.

Important: What Your Player Fee Does Not Buy

Player fees help us operate the program. They contribute toward fields, league expenses, referees, training, equipment, insurance, administration, and other costs associated with running a competitive adult soccer club.

Paying a player fee does not purchase playing time, a starting position, or a guaranteed place on a match-day roster.

Summit Valley United is a competitive soccer program. Team selection and playing time are coaching decisions based on what gives the team the best opportunity to compete while continuing to develop the overall squad.

For Full Season Players, coaches will consider factors such as:

  • Training attendance and punctuality
  • Performance and effort in training
  • Fitness and match readiness
  • Position and tactical requirements
  • Attitude, communication, and commitment
  • Performance in previous matches and scrimmages
  • The needs of the team for a particular opponent or match

A player may therefore be fully registered, paid, training consistently, and still not be selected for every match.

Players who are not selected are still expected to continue training, competing, and working toward future opportunities. A player's role can change throughout the season based on development, performance, availability, and the needs of the team.

Commitment Goes Both Ways

While playing time cannot be guaranteed, players should expect a professional and respectful environment from the coaching staff.

We will communicate expectations, provide opportunities to train and improve, evaluate players based on their performance and commitment, and give players the opportunity to ask for feedback about what they need to improve.

Our expectation in return is simple: show up, communicate, work hard, support your teammates, and compete for your opportunity.

At Summit Valley United, opportunities are earned through what you demonstrate on the field and how you contribute to the team.

TRAIN. DEVELOP. COMPETE. EARN YOUR OPPORTUNITY.
