How Summit Valley United manages official club photography, personal sharing, and approved image use.

Last updated: October 28, 2026

We want families and coaches to enjoy and share these photos while protecting the club’s investment, branding, and the privacy of our players.

1) Official Club Photography

SVU invests in professional team and player photography, whether funded directly by the club, individual teams, or through the generous contributions of volunteer photographers. Photographs commissioned or funded by SVU or its teams are considered official club photography. Additionally, photographs provided to SVU and authorized for use on official club platforms, including our website, social media, and promotional materials, become part of SVU’s official media assets, regardless of who originally paid for or took them. This designation does not transfer copyright ownership but ensures photographs used to represent SVU are managed consistently and appropriately.

2) Independently Commissioned Photography

Photographs independently commissioned or purchased by parents for personal use remain separate from official SVU photography unless they are subsequently provided and authorized for official club use.

3) Permitted Use and Sharing

  • Parents and families may download and share photographs of their own children for personal use, including on personal social media accounts.
  • Coaches may share photographs with family and friends for personal, non-commercial purposes and may use them for official SVU team activities and communications.
  • Official SVU use is permitted for club-related communications, promotions, social media, and other approved activities, provided the appropriate parental permissions are in place.

4) Non-SVU and Commercial Use

Non-SVU or commercial use is not permitted. Photographs commissioned or funded by SVU or its teams may not be used to promote outside businesses, organizations, teams, events, or services without SVU's prior written approval. This includes advertising, marketing, sponsorships, and other commercial activities.

5) Image Alterations

Photographs must remain unaltered. They cannot be edited, modified, have watermarks or branding removed, or have other logos, graphics, or branding added without club approval. Normal resizing or cropping for personal sharing is acceptable, provided the original image and its context are preserved.

6) Purpose of This Policy

The goal is not to restrict families from enjoying their children’s photos. It is to ensure that photographs funded by SVU are used appropriately, parental permissions are respected, and club resources are not used to benefit unrelated organizations or businesses.
